Anna Carlisle Dancer in Training Award

Set up in memory of Lisa Ullmann, since 1987 the Fund has awarded travel scholarships to help people to pursue an extraordinarily wide range of projects. The diversity of the projects realised and the consequent communication between different sectors of the dance community world-wide is very much in tune with Lisa Ullmann’s own life and work. She was a distinguished teacher of movement and dance, whose unique work contributed to the dance education of countless students, dancers and teachers.

LUTSF funds the Dancer in Training Award for three reasons:

* **To support dance education.** LUTSF recognises the recent diminishing of dance education across many institutions and the closure of several courses. This award celebrates the importance of studying dance at degree, company-associated training, and other learning contexts across the sector.

* **To support deeper thinking, research and innovation at undergraduate/postgraduate/early-career level**. To encourage applicants to widen their sphere of thinking and research related to dissertation/individual study, practice, networking, and supporting future career aspirations.

* LUTSF seeks to encourage a diverse cohort of applicants studying various genres, styles and types of dance practice\*\*,\*\* including applicants who consider themselves to be students with physical disabilities, learning disabilities and neurodiversity, Global Majority dancers and people who may otherwise experience disadvantage to engage with LUTSF.
