Scholarship for drawing and paper art

The City of Waiblingen's Drawing and Paper Art Scholarship will be awarded for the second time in 2026\. It is made possible with the support of the Eva Mayr-Stihl Foundation through a bequest from Renate Reichert to the foundation. This intergenerational project brings together established artists and emerging artists. The internationally renowned paper sculptor Angela Glajcar was selected as an established artist for the City of Waiblingen Paper Art Scholarship. She will accompany the scholarship recipients as a mentor during their stay in Waiblingen. The scholarship for young artists is publicly advertised and awarded by a jury of experts.

**The Young Talent Scholarship**

The city of Waiblingen invites three international artists to work at the Galerie im Kameralamt for six weeks, starting June 15, 2026\. Once a week, the public and groups of schoolchildren have the opportunity to observe the artists at work and engage in conversation with them during an open studio session. Following this, the resulting works will be shown in a joint exhibition at the Galerie im Kameralamt from July 25 to October 18, 2026\. Furthermore, the scholarship recipients will participate in the supporting program for the duration of the exhibition, including workshops in collaboration with the Unteres Remstal Art School. The selected scholarship recipients will receive a full scholarship.

**The mentoring**

The internationally acclaimed artist Angela Glajcar will accompany the scholarship recipients as a mentor during their stay in Waiblingen. Angela Glajcar (\*1970) studied sculpture at the Nuremberg Academy of Fine Arts. She initially worked with traditional materials such as wood and metal. While conceiving these sculptures, the sculptor discovered the powerful flexibility of paper, a material often described as fragile. Glajcar's installations, often created in situ and made of layered, large-format papers, allow for exciting insights and perspectives and fascinate with their sense of depth. The space and its changing conditions such as light and air create an atmospheric presence for the paper works, which sometimes appear fragile, sometimes monumental, and transform their appearance. As part of the scholarship, the Stihl Waiblingen Gallery is presenting a comprehensive monographic exhibition on the artist, including works that Angela Glajcar will create during a six-week working process on site at the Stihl Waiblingen Gallery.
